Tournament of Champions

The HSTOC is the state written championship for high school students. Grades 9-12.

Enrollment closes April 30th. Registration consists of two parts; a) Alca Website enrollment and b) Site RSVP. Please make sure to complete both.

Who: Students in 9-12 grade who have qualified to attend

Where: Oklahoma State University in Stillwater (May 2nd)

Rose State College in Midwest City (May 1st - 3rd) 

When:  May 1st - 3rd, 2025

Cost: $8.00 per test taken

The list of tests for 2025 is all of the tests we currently offer.

An enrollment of 10 or more students is required before a test can become a part of the competition for this year.

A yellow triangle in the upper right corner of a cell indicates a note or definition about the test.

If your student has placed in a test that I do not have on my list, please contact me for equivalent or substitute options.

HSTOC Delivery for 2025

The 2025 High School Tournament of Champions will be digital. Students should bring a laptop, tablet, or Chromebook on which to take the test.

Students testing on a device will be able to move from test to test as they finish.

World Language students will need to bring headphones or earbuds.

How to Qualify for the HSTOC

1.) Student must place 1st - 5th at a qualifying tournament.

2.) Open Enrollment - This includes tests for which there are very few corresponding tests at the regional level.  Please select students for open enrollment tests carefully. The student you enter in these competitions should be either currently enrolled in the class or have a background in independent study for this area.

3.) Testing in a subject not offered at the qualifying meet. Schools with students attending the HSTOC as a result of placing at a qualifying meet may enter one student in a test that was not offered at the qualifier. Requirements:

  • Student must be currently enrolled in the class that corresponds with the requested test.

  • The requested test(s) must not have been offered at the qualifying event(s) attended by the school.

1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies are awarded for each subject test.  4th & 5th place medals for each subject test. Top 10 medals for all students placing 6-10.

2025 Thursday Testing

We are offering Thursday Testing at TBD Locations for those with conflicts on Friday or Saturday with other school related events. 

You must RSVP on this google form to let me know which site you are attending.

2025 Friday and/or Saturday Testing

We offer testing on Friday and/or Saturday.  Students with conflicts on Saturday may choose to come on Friday to take their tests. Vice Versa.

Friday night schedule will mirror the Saturday schedule.

Friday testing begins at 10:00 am with the last test starting at 5:00 for Rose State

Friday (OSU) testing beings at 10:00 am and ends at 5:00pm

On Saturday the first test is at 9:00 with the last test starting at 2:00 (varies by subject so please plan accordingly)

Awards are sorted at the end of each testing hour. If you are collecting for a single student please check with Erika for where to collect those.

3:15 - Scholar Results Announced

*Current Events items will come from the time span of March 2023 through March 20, 2024.

** 40% of the Humanities & Fine Arts test will be over the Focus Period.

Coaches are encouraged to collect awards before leaving to save time on shipping delays since school lets out very soon after this event.

HSTOC Scholar Test - Freshman Scholar, Sophomore Scholar, Junior Scholar, Senior Scholar
To qualify to take the Scholar test a student must have qualified to take at least 3 tests at the HSTOC OR have qualified to take the scholar test the previous year.


There will be one scholar test over multiple subjects. Each scholar test will include questions from grade level language arts, math, science, social studies as well as current events, fine arts and humanities, vocabulary, literature, and pop culture.

A new platform to register for the HSTOC is now live. Please follow the steps in the Guide below to register students for tests. Then RSVP for which site you will be attending.
